Lithium Niobate based Photonics Device Design

Lithium Niobate is used in integrated and nonlinear optical device use because of its strong electro–optic (EO) coefficients, large transparency range and wide intrinsic bandwidth. Due to its excellent EO and nonlinear properties, Lithium Niobate has found various applications in integrated optics. For example, external modulators, which provide large modulation bandwidth and zero-chirp operation.


Working with leading photonics companies and research institutions has equipped Optic2Connect with valuable industry knowledge. These experiences and knowledge have been translated into tools to assist in the design and development of photonics devices.

Accurate Modelling

An accurate modelling simulation capable of accurately mapping simulations from one domain to the other, e.g. electrical to optical, and vice versa.

Modulation Formats

Capable of handling complex analog and digital modulation schemes, such as DP-QPSK and APSK.

High Speed Modelling

We are able to accurately model the device characteristics under high speed data rate situations e.g. 10/40/50 GHz, including constellation diagram plotting.

Platform Independent

Our software solution is also designed to be tools and platform independent with other simulation formats.

Optic2Connect in SPIE Photonics West Conference 2016

Optic2Connect participated in SPIE Photonics West 2016. Photonics West, which is possibly the most important photonics conference in the world with its over 20,000 participants, was held in San Francisco from February 13th to the 19th. O2C join published "Silicon-based phase shifters for high figure of merit in optical modulation"(DOI: with Fujikura and A*Star. The paper discussed latest progress in experimental and theoretical studies on silicon-based carrier-depletion PN-junction phase shifters in terms of high modulation efficiency for energy-efficient photonic networks of high transmission capacity. O2C also presented "Analysis of depletion silicon phase shifter based on computer simulation"(DOI:, in which a method was reported to optimize the efficiency and loss performance of a depletion silicon rib phase shifter. O2C's method makes use of its own simulation platform. The platform features a seamless simulation flow. It is tested to be fast and accurate, and the test users find it easy to handle large DOE variances.


O2C will be presenting at Opto Electronics and Communications Conference

Optic2Connect will be presenting at the Opto Electronics and Communications Conference (OECC) 2015, a worldwide conference on the latest optical and photonic research areas. OECC will be held from June 28th to July 2nd, 2015 at Shanghai China and O2C would be presenting a paper at the conference.


International Year of Light (IYL) Seminar

Optic2Connect will be sharing at the International Year of Light (IYL) Seminar on 26 Jan 2015 @ EEE Nanyang Technological University. Optic2Connect will speak on Electronic and optical convergence in high speed silicon photonics. IYL2015 is a global initiative adopted by the United Nations to raise awareness of how optical technologies promote sustainable development and provide solutions to worldwide challenges in energy, education, agriculture, communications and health. This event is jointly organized by COFT-Centre for Optical Fibre Technology, OPTIMUS-Photonics Centre of Excellence, School of EEE, The Photonics Institute, Nanyang Technological University, and IEEE Photonics Society Singapore Chapter.

SPRING TECS Proof of Value Grant Award - 2013

In Dec 2013, Optic2Connect was proud to be one of the few recipients of SPRING's Technology Enterprise Commercialisation Scheme Proof of Value (TECS POV) grant. This is in recognition of our commitment in translating our innovative and potentially market-disrupting photonics simulation technology into a commercial viability.

The scheme aims to catalyse the formation of new technology start-ups in Singapore. The top innovative technology enterprises are supported by this grant which addresses early-stage funding gaps, enabling them to grow past their embryonic phase, secure third party funding, and achieve growing revenues.


TechVenture 2013

Optic2Connect (O2C) showcased its products at Techventure 2013. TechVenture showcases technology innovation and enterprise in the Asia Pacific region. This event offers O2C a platform to network, exchange ideas and develop business plans. Furtermore, it gave us an opportunity to seek investments from venture capitalists, corporate ventures, private equity and angel investors.

The 2013 event is driven by the National Research Foundation, Prime Minister’s Office, Singapore, in collaboration with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Exploit Technologies Pte Ltd (ETPL) and SPRING Singapore (SPRING). Guest of Honor (GOH) was Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Teo Chee Hean.

Optic2Connect was selected to present its technological solutions at SEED Forum, offering access to individual investors, venture funds, and investment companies a first-hand insight into a select group of investor ready start-up companies aspiring to expand their businesses.


Skolkovo Award Winner, 2012
